Ongoing & Completed Projects
- Assisted the City of Mt. Pleasant Planning Commission in creating a Signage Ordinance Sub-Committee to study the current signage conditions in Mt. Pleasant.
- Awarded Fit City status through the Governor’s Council on Fitness. Celebrated Mt. Pleasant’s receipt of Silver Status Award as a Fit City, presented by Governor’s Council on Fitness on Dec. 3, 2008.
- Created and organized 1st annual Banner Festival in 2009 to celebrate the arts. The first year included 160 banners, with participants ranging from age 8-80. Partners were Art Reach and the Mount Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Donors included Northwestern Mutual, Isabella Bank, Morey Foundation and the City of Mt. Pleasant. The 2010 Banner Festival looks to have 250 banners and will include participation from Shepherd, Winn and CMU.
- Pursuing more appealing thoroughfare and signage along Mission Street using the Complete Street Concept.
- Moving forward with the Gateway Project to improve beautification of entrances into Mt. Pleasant.
- Working with MDOT, which is taking the lead to meet with township, city and county engineers to establish bike path plan throughout the Isabella County.
- Promoting a safer, more walkable and bikeable community. Working with Fancher School, the first school applying for funding for Safe Routes to Schools. Formed a committee, involving school administration, parents, the City of Mt. Pleasant, MDOT, and Vision 20/20 representatives to pursue and generate the grant application process.
